Hey, little buddies!
George Washington once said, “Make sure you are doing what God wants you to do–then do it with all your strength.” You might be surprised how many people you know are drifting through life, just doing enough to get by. Many people go to work, come home, eat supper and spend the rest of the evening watching television. They don’t serve others through volunteer work, improve their minds by reading a good book, or make an effort to share the gospel. They just try to have fun and avoid trying very hard at anything.
Washington wasn’t like that and we’re glad he wasn’t. His life was far from easy because he worked hard and faced danger for the sake of doing important things. He served others as the top General in the War of Independence, which surely would have gotten him hanged if the British had won. He worked hard and left his beloved home for many weeks to lead the meeting that gave us our Constitution as a nation. He did many other hard and courageous things, too. And it was always for the purpose of serving God and his country.
I hope you don’t want to play your life away. Your country, your family and God’s kingdom need people who want to make accomplish something with their lives. Ask God to show you some great works you can do and then attack them will all the strength you have. Nothing else is worth living for.
